Minimum Marriage

Are we at the mercy of the state we live in? Can the lawmakers change our marriages at will?
Must we worry about every new law changing our marriage?

No. The laws of our state defines minimum marriage. Just as the state has some form of will to take care of those who die without one, so the state has written a minimum marriage contract (covenant). We are not required to use the minimum will that the state has written for us. Most careful folk write their own will, to reflect their own moral view. And we can also make it very clear by a legal document when we go into marriage.
